Grimaldi In Trouble After Clash With Ref

Canterbury - Tony GrimaldiFORMER Canterbury forward Tony Grimaldi faces a possible fine in the wake of Thursday night’s loss to Melbourne.
Cummins halted play during the 22-18 Storm win at AAMI Park and reported Grimaldi, now a trainer, to the ground manager. Television viewers around the country heard Cummins say “get Grimaldi off”.
Grimaldi was then formally advised he had been placed on report, asking “why?”.
NRL operations manager Nathan McGuirk told RLW there was an allegation that something was said to the match officials. The Bulldogs were under the impression he had just stayed on the field too long.
If Grimaldi is found to have acted improperly, the Bulldogs would receive a breach notice. Last year two Warriors trainers were accused of abusing Cummins and fellow referee Chris James.
One of the trainers, Tony Iro, denied making any comments and it’s thought the matter was settled without any action being taken.
